You should know. . .

That you are more than just a boy with a title, you are the Icing on my CUPCAKE!!

My boyfriend is a wonderful man and I am not just saying that because he is my boyfriend. The truth is he is more than just a man with a title in my life. He is such a charismatic guy, he has a great sense of humor  and always finds a way to make laugh and at times this can be a real challenge for him. Whether he is out and about at the mall with me trying to find the “right” dress, stuffing his face at a new cupcake shop or not saying a word while I load a bag of gummie goodies at a candy store, he is always there, by my side holding my hand, or my goodies ;) He is always trying his hardest to not get frustrated with me and my lack of interest in new gadgets or technology in general, which is crazy because his life revolves around technology.

He has this “gift” that at times drives me crazy but at times it is just want I need after a long day at work; he likes to sing songs that I have not heard in my 23 years of existing on this planet or sing commercial tunes to me! He is so geeky/nerdy and proud of it and he is taking me down that road with him, and frankly, i love it. As of tonight, he entertained me with an app on his ipad and he is now “learning” Japanese?!?

But seriously, Bruce, is the best and he is the world’s greatest boyfriend.  He cooks; he cleans and conquers Mt. Laundry, and is slowly but surely eliminating all spiders one slap at a time, but the best part about him is how much he cares about me and how much he supports me. For the past however long we have been dating (it’s a bit over a year and a half but two years is in head…) he has always found a way to be there for me, even when we had an ocean between us. And on a day like today when someone i know complained about her significant other all i could do is listen and think about how lucky i am to have a man like Booce in my life, Baby, you are the greatest, but you know that ;)

I love you very, very mucho, mi amor.

April Fools'

Oh yes, it is that time of the year, when everyone plays jokes and pranks on their family and friends. Well, my boyfriend thought it would be hilarious to play a few jokes on me throughout the day... the first time he got me and well, he got me every time... Good Job Bruce, Goooood Job.

Photographer: "Look Here!" (shakes Elmo)
Today was a nice day, I spent it with my awesome Novio and when I say awesome I really mean awesome. He asked me what I wanted to do for the day and at first I thought this was a trick question because I had already told him that I wanted to go to the mall and have my picture taken with the Easter Bunny. But i guess he truly forgot...

I answered his question and this time around he said ok! So we went to the mall and got in line to get our picture taken, and when i say we got in line that was just a figure of speech because there was no line...my favorite part of getting our picture taken was when the lady held Elmo over the camera and said "look here" we both laughed at the fact the photographer treated us like little kids... haha! But thanks to that our picture came out great!

Then we headed to the movie theater to watch the Hunger Games. During the movie previews we watched the movie preview for Johnny Depp's upcoming movie Dark Shadows. On our way out from the movie we saw the movie poster for said movie and I had Bruce sit on the chair they had out by the poster and I took his picture. It was very nice :)

April is starting out to be a scary month,
Mommy checking in :(
what with my mother randomly deciding to fly down to Mexico and stay down there for a month. I won’t see my mom starting today, April 7th until May 12th, the day of my Graduation. I think this is crazy but oh well, she wants to go to Mexico. Anyways, this week I am starting my Medical Interpreting Class with Metaphrasis and I am super excited! I am super excited about the program and I can’t wait to see what I will be learning in the next couple of weeks.

First Day of Class-
I am very exhausted and satisfied with my first day of medical interpreting class. My instructor is wonderful! She used various teaching strategies and made class a lot of fun. My class is small, and I really like that, not to mention the loft is super nice and comfortable, I didn’t feel like I was in class for 8 hours. I have a lot of homework to do, mostly some reading but the good thing is I don’t have class tomorrow until Saturday!

Undergraduate Scholars Conference-

Today is the day, the day I have been waiting for the past couple of months. Today I am going to present my Capstone Topic at the Saint Ambrose University Undergraduate Scholars Conference. I am very nervous because I am still going to my Medical Interpreting Class, I will be leaving Chicago at 3pm and try to make it to Davenport, IA by 645pm which is the time I will be presenting. I am very nervous, I obviously know my topic because I have been working on it for the past few months but I have a lot of anxiety because I don’t know who will be at my presentation and I am worried that I will bored them and this is a big chunk of my capstone grade and well, I am just very, very, very nervous :O

Yummy!
The scholarship conference went pretty good, better than I thought. I froze once or twice but I was happy when my instructor, who evaluated my presentation, told me that I did a good job! Thank Goodness!! Now I am nervous about my final exam for the medical interpreting program not to mention I need to catch up on what I missed on Thursday. Today’s class was intense, our medical terminology instructor had me on my toes today and as much as I liked that it also made me nervous. There was a lot of medical terminology covered today, thank goodness I have some engrained in my brain from my Nursing classes otherwise I would have been very lost today. After turning in our paper, homework, and wrapping up all of the material from our class we had a mini fiesta with lots of yummy food to say goodbye to our wonderful instructor and to my classmates. I will miss them very MUCHO, thank goodness for Facebook!

Alright! I passed my medical interpreting exam!!! Now I just have to wait to get my internship hours scheduled at a hospital that works with Metaphrasis and I will be ready to start working!!! I am very excited because I will be walking in 12 days! I am in such a great mood because my grades from Spain FINALY came in and I did great! I passed all of my grades and I feel good knowing I had a lot of fun in Spain and pulled all As and one B! I can’t wait for my mother to get back from Mexico so I can show her my report card! Also, I am glad things are working out for Bruce and I, April was a rough month and I am so glad it is over, its officially Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Which means Bruce and I have been dating for a Year as of today :)

This is my favorite picture of us, he took it with his cell and we weren't even dating at the time.

My Boo's Birthday!!

SILVER MONKEY!

Today is my Boo’s 30th Birthday. I am so excited for him!

The picture on the right is of a random monkey with the caption "Silver Monkey." Bruce likes to drink tea and about a year ago he told me about his Golden Monkey Tea and I made a joke about how the tea should be the SM (Silver Monkey) because of his gray hair. It was meant as a funny remark but it has stuck around. Not only has the SM joke been around for over a year, we use the monkey icon on Emoji to make each other laugh 24/7! The Picture on the Left is a picture from last week. We went to Culver's for a late lunch and the guy behind the register gave us the #30 for our order, it was hilarious and I had to take a picture of him holding the number. That picture is his current facebook profile picture.

The day started super early and after a few phone calls to my University and my mother’s hair appointment we decided to get Bruce a cake and surprise him! Unfortunately we (my mother and I) were the ones that got a surprise. I would like to know why is it that Bakeries do not open on Mondays?!?!?!? We drove around for about two hours looking for a bakery and we found NOTHING!

Beautiful Stained Glass
and Chandeliers at Tavern
Mom and I ended up getting a Tres Leches Cake for him. Bruce and I went to dinner at Tavern in Libertyville. What a beautiful restaurant, the dinning was recently redone and moved to the second floor. I loved the colors, the lighting, the wallpaper, the stain glass windows and the service was excellent! But the best part was having dinner with my Boo. We waited very patiently until 6:48pm rolled around so that we could properly celebrate Bruce’s 30th Birthday!!!

Bruce taking a pic of
his watch at exactly
6:48p.m.
Bruce took a picture of his watch as it changed to 6:48pm… silly boy! We enjoyed the toasted bread with the spread and I totally ate most if not all of the butter the waiter provided for us… I LOVE butter! Then for our dinner course, Bruce went for the 8in Steak with parmesan cheese and potato fries and I went for the Angel hair pasta with lots of delicious veggies.  The restaurant had great ambiance and the food was excellent!

More of the Restaurant!
Afterwards, Bruce and I came back to my parent’s casa and we “surprised” him with the cake and 30 magic candles! My mother played a video clip of Cepillin (a famous Mexican Clown that is well known for his children’s songs) and as Cepillin sung happy birthday to Bruce he tried his hardest to blow out the candles. That took a couple of minutes and in the end; I took care of it ;) We had cake with milk!
Eating his Cake!

Happy 30th Birthday Bruce!!

 My Dear, Bruce,

You are a wonderful Monkey, I am so lucky to have such a rare Monkey for a Pet! You are the best Monkey out there and I am sure the people at the Zoo are aware of their ASM (amazing silver monkey)
Ok, on a more serious note. Bruce, you are wonderful and I am so glad we had the opportunity to spend your birthday together. You had a long day at work and yet you managed to find the energy to blow out 30 magic candles! Dude, you are the bomb! I hope you enjoyed your 20s. Something tells me your 30s are going to be Awesome :)

Love You, Dude!

Valentine's Day!

My day started at 930-ish, when I woke up I had a picture message from him "Happy Valentine's Day" as I dragged myself out of bed I realized I had to wait at least 10 hours before I would get to see him. So I thought of what I could do in the meanwhile. I went downstairs and made some pancakes, with the help of some cookie cutters I ate some star and heart shape pancakes with a glass of 2% Leche! :)

Then I went ahead and worked on my usual chores. When I was getting ready to go for my run he sent me a text  "whatcha doin?" I informed him that I was getting ready for my run and asked him what was up with him. He said "check the front door" and so I did and there it was, a Box! I picked it up and placed it on the kitchen island, as i opened it up I wonder what type of flowers they would be. (The box gave it away that it contained flores) so I was 100% sure it would be roses but as I opened the box I saw how wrong I was. He sent me Lilies!  I picked up the phone to thank him as I removed the Lilies and vase from the box. I read the note out loud to him and we both laughed.

I continued with my day, my run only lasted 20 some minutes due to the cold weather... dear winter, go AWAY!  When I returned I watched another episode of my new "favorite" show, White Collar then realized it was a little past 4pm then he sent me a text "Reservation in less than 4 horas!" I like his texts; todays were extra special :)

I got ready for my date with my dearest novio and I have to mention how much I like it when he rings the doorbell versus sending a text or calling letting me know that he is outside my casa. As we got into his new coche (a pretty BMW) and drive off I asked him where we were going (something I have been asking him since yesterday) but he did not say. Minutes later, we arrived at Trattoria Pomigliano, a restaurant downtown Libertyville! :)

At the restaurant we exchanged lovey dovey looks and cards; he always gets me funny cards! The card he got me was especial! :) Dinner was delicious! Bruce had the Spinach Ravioli while I went for the Lasagna, good choices. For dessert our waitress brought out a tray of yummy looking desserts; sorbets, ice cream, tiramisu, brownie. When I saw the tray of desserts I thought we were in trouble because I knew Bruce would not eat much more and I only left a little bit of room for dessert. I am so glad the waitress explained the tray!! Bruce ended up having a super-RICH brownie while I had a Bombi: white and chocolate gelato with a "hidden" cherry in a chocolate shell. I was sad when they brought it out cut in half... I could totally see where the Cherry was :(

We managed to eat our desserts and headed out. When I got home I gave Bruce a ceramic monkey I painted for him and he named it Rodrigo! Rodrigo will sit next to his chubby hula dancer on his desk at work.

I had a wonderful Dia de San Valentin with my Bruce. I am so proud of him; he managed to handle work, go to the gym, drive up here and made my evening. Thank you sweetie!

Happy Valentine's Day Boo!
